Working at Fighter Shots: My Experience as a Digital Marketing Assistant

I first started my journey with Fighter Shots in March 2021 after I was employed through the government’s Kickstart Scheme. I felt that working in a start-up was an excellent experience for myself as a keen recent graduate looking to gain experience in many areas of business. Contributing to the growth of Fighter Shots while being involved with a supportive and friendly team was a fantastic experience that has afforded me many skills that I can apply in both my personal and professional daily life.

Fighter Shots’ strong values of sustainability, education, and quality had originally drawn me to the role of Digital Marketing Assistant. It has been very rewarding to be a part of a brand that puts health and wellbeing at the forefront of their message, and a brand that really cares about the satisfaction and happiness of their customers. Being able to work with the founders- Anna Szymanowska and Kavita Madhvani- so closely, I felt valued and respected within the team.

My core responsibilities during my time at Fighter Shots included editorial duties and copywriting, ensuring that our adverts for social media looked enticing and innovative and that our blog posts and online features were engaging and interesting. I also assisted with reworking the website and creating digital content for our social media channels- Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

Working closely with sales and email and telephone marketing was also a responsibility of my role at Fighter Shots. Through networking, attending meetings with potential buyers, and conversing with online marketplaces, I built a professional rapport with many valuable contacts and gained confidence in my abilities as a marketing assistant.

I felt that some of my biggest achievements while working at Fighter Shots included:

  •       Listing our products on Not on The High Street, Ankorstore, and Good Sixty.
  •       Having Fighter Shots featured in Metro newspaper.
  •       Assisting with copywriting for the website rework.
  •       Developing successful new marketing strategies and approaches.
  •       Meeting (virtually or over the telephone) with potential buyers and pitching Fighter Shots while securing sales and listings.
  •       Assisting with successful marketing campaigns as well as brand collaborations and giveaways.

As a result of my role at Fighter Shots, I now possess skills in graphic design, sales, copywriting and copy-editing as well as understanding of sales and demographics. I have gained invaluable insight into how businesses work behind the scenes. Through dispatching orders and contacting customers  via technology such as Mintsoft, Xero, and Shopify, I’m aware of how an outstanding business such as Fighter Shots can and should operate.

I’m thankful for my time at Fighter Shots. No day was ever the same and I was completely trusted in my abilities to make tasks happen, even if they were out of my comfort zone (such as telesales, which seemed daunting at first but turned out to be a great way to connect with other businesses!).

Although I am leaving my role at Fighter Shots behind, my experiences and relationships with my colleagues will stay. I am looking forward to continuing to watch the brand develop and support their new product lines. I may be slightly biased, but I’d never buy health shots from anywhere else!
