Understanding Hemp Oil and CBD
Hemp oil and CBD, or cannabidiol, are both derived from the cannabis plant. However, they serve different purposes. Hemp oil is extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant and is rich in nutrients like omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. On the other hand, CBD is sourced from the leaves, flowers, and stems of the hemp plant and is renowned for its potential therapeutic properties.
One of the key advantages of CBD is its ability to interact with the endocannabinoid system in our bodies, which plays a crucial role in maintaining various physiological processes. Research suggests that CBD may help alleviate pain, reduce anxiety, combat inflammation, and even aid in managing certain neurological conditions.
The Power of Ginger Juice
For centuries, ginger has been a staple in traditional medicine due to its impressive nutritional profile and medicinal properties. Ginger juice is obtained from the root of the ginger plant, which is rich in vitamins (such as B6 and C), minerals (including magnesium and potassium), and antioxidants.
The potential health benefits of ginger juice are diverse. Its anti-inflammatory properties may aid in reducing muscle pain and discomfort. Additionally, ginger is renowned for its digestive benefits, promoting a healthy gut and alleviating digestive issues. It also possesses immune-boosting properties and has been used to combat nausea and motion sickness.
Fighter Shots' products are all ginger-based. Our ginger shots offer a potent blend of ginger, pomegranate, collagen, beetroot, turmeric, and hemp, providing a natural and invigorating way to support digestion, boost immunity, and harness the potential anti-inflammatory properties of these powerful ingredients.
Synergistic Effects: Hemp Oil and Ginger Juice and its Potential Health Benefits
Combining hemp oil and ginger juice can lead to synergistic effects, where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The trio may work harmoniously, enhancing each other's benefits and potentially yielding even more substantial results.
While research on the specific combination of hemp oil and ginger juice is limited, studies have shown promising individual benefits for each component. By harnessing their respective properties, it's plausible that this powerful union could offer a holistic approach to wellness.
Imagine a natural remedy that promotes relaxation, eases pain, reduces inflammation, supports digestion, and boosts immunity—all in one. This powerful trio has the potential to provide relief from various ailments and improve overall well-being.
For those struggling with chronic pain, whether it's due to arthritis or exercise-induced soreness, the anti-inflammatory properties of hemp oil and ginger juice could offer much-needed relief. Additionally, if anxiety or stress is a recurring challenge, the calming effects of hemp oil, when combined with ginger's mood-enhancing benefits, might provide a holistic approach to relaxation.
Usage and Safety
As with any natural remedy, it's essential to use hemp oil and ginger juice responsibly. While these substances are generally well-tolerated, individual reactions may vary. Therefore, it's crucial to consult a healthcare professional before incorporating them into your wellness routine, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or taking medications.
Regarding dosage, it's best to start with small amounts and gradually increase to find what works best for your body. Pay attention to any adverse reactions and discontinue use if you experience any discomfort.
The best time of the day to use ginger and hemp oil shots from Fighter Shots can vary depending on your individual preferences and lifestyle. However, there are a few suggested timings that might be ideal for most people:

Growing up I used to struggle a lot with food, mostly because I was so used to eating whatever I wanted that I didn’t realize that since my routine had changed, so did my body’s needs. I started to gain weight and it’s been a struggle in my life ever since.
I moved to London by myself in October 2021 and being on my own has taught me a lot about cooking for myself, what and how I feel, and about patience towards my process. When we’re younger, our metabolism and calorie-burning dynamics are completely different than the ones we handle as adults. Both what it needs and how long it takes to process it changes. So, here’s our topic today, what is personal accountability when it comes to food and how do we balance it with patience?
To me, personal accountability when it comes to food is knowing that your body has changed and so has its needs. It’s getting to know what you need and when you need it, knowing what foods are better for you and which ones you can’t handle. It is knowing that even though you’d like to eat nothing but cheese forever (and who doesn’t, really?) you still must incorporate hearty, fibrous, nutrition-packed food into your body to keep it working properly. Hold yourself accountable because you’re the one who has everything and anything to lose from this. How do you want to feel in 10-20 years? Answer that question and start.
Now, the other side of this coin is patience. Know that you’re bound to make mistakes, to ask too much of yourself, to want a break and forget about the goal. All these things are completely normal and acceptable, it’s not ‘falling off the wagon”. Finding what is too much for you is progress, figuring out what your nonnegotiables are is great for your relationship with yourself.
So, to cut the story short. Ask what you want from yourself, but also understand that you’re a flawed wonderful person on the journey of figuring yourself out.
Enjoy this process, Fighter!
Love,
Mónika
]]>Some of you have been wondering how our all-natural, potent ginger shots have such a long shelf life. How, if our products do not have any preservatives, are they able to stay good for several months and in ambient conditions? How do we manage to retain all our positive attributes and nutritional value without scarifying our ‘all natural’ claim by adding conservatives? The answer is simple: a very low pH level and mild pasteurization.
A low pH level refers to liquids or solutions that have less than 7 on the pH scale. This automatically categorizes them as acidic. Why is it important for our products to be acidic? Because they are able to remain good over large periods of time. Microorganisms, such as mold, yeast, and bacteria, are very sensitive to the levels of pH in food. When levels are either very low or very high, these microorganisms can’t develop, being this an excellent prevention method.
Also, our packaging is a very important piece of our cero preservatives and conservatives’ puzzle. Our shots are bottled in glass bottles with a tight seal. After the ginger concoction has been poured into the container, it’s sealed, and no oxygen comes in. This prevents the formation of microorganisms as well because they need oxygen to subsist.

Cecilia Miglio is a second year student in the MA Industrial Design course at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.
For more than two years she has been passionate about how low-tech solutions can be used in our everyday life to save resources and make our way of living more sustainable.
In December 2021 she attended the Low-Tech formation camp in Bretagne, a series of workshops and conferences organised by the Low-Tech Lab (https://lowtechlab.org/en), a French association aiming at contributing to the emergence of ways of living, producing or consuming that are more sober, respectful and resilient.
There she came in contact with the “Habitat Low-tech” project, a prototype of an autonomous house, in which Pierre-Alain and Clément lived for one year and measured the economic, ecological and ergonomic impact of several low-techs in a Western context.
Inspired by this experience, she took up the challenge and, for her graduation project, she decided to work on a Low-tech solution to optimise food conservation.
In fact, nowadays, refrigerators have erroneously become our first response to the conservation of any fresh food. Beyond the fridge is a food storage system composed of different climate compartments, which allows to best preserve some types of food without using energy. The project aims to re-evaluate traditional teachings, raise awareness on our consumption patterns and save money while reducing our carbon footprint.
We at Fighter Shots always enjoy learning about sustainability, and we think that you will find her discoveries fascinating as well.
Store better - Keep your food fresh for longer !
Cecilia has created a wonderful quiz designed to teach about the best ways to store food, especially fruit and vegetables. Please take this 5 minute challenge, it will help you save some space in the fridge!

Fighter Shots’ strong values of sustainability, education, and quality had originally drawn me to the role of Digital Marketing Assistant. It has been very rewarding to be a part of a brand that puts health and wellbeing at the forefront of their message, and a brand that really cares about the satisfaction and happiness of their customers. Being able to work with the founders- Anna Szymanowska and Kavita Madhvani- so closely, I felt valued and respected within the team.
My core responsibilities during my time at Fighter Shots included editorial duties and copywriting, ensuring that our adverts for social media looked enticing and innovative and that our blog posts and online features were engaging and interesting. I also assisted with reworking the website and creating digital content for our social media channels- Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
Working closely with sales and email and telephone marketing was also a responsibility of my role at Fighter Shots. Through networking, attending meetings with potential buyers, and conversing with online marketplaces, I built a professional rapport with many valuable contacts and gained confidence in my abilities as a marketing assistant.
I felt that some of my biggest achievements while working at Fighter Shots included:
As a result of my role at Fighter Shots, I now possess skills in graphic design, sales, copywriting and copy-editing as well as understanding of sales and demographics. I have gained invaluable insight into how businesses work behind the scenes. Through dispatching orders and contacting customers via technology such as Mintsoft, Xero, and Shopify, I’m aware of how an outstanding business such as Fighter Shots can and should operate.
I’m thankful for my time at Fighter Shots. No day was ever the same and I was completely trusted in my abilities to make tasks happen, even if they were out of my comfort zone (such as telesales, which seemed daunting at first but turned out to be a great way to connect with other businesses!).
Although I am leaving my role at Fighter Shots behind, my experiences and relationships with my colleagues will stay. I am looking forward to continuing to watch the brand develop and support their new product lines. I may be slightly biased, but I’d never buy health shots from anywhere else!

The origins of the pomegranate can be traced back to Persia (Pomegranate was originally named “Anar/انار”) The pomegranate fruit, however, is now produced all over the world. This fruit comes in a variety of colours and flavours, ranging from red to black and sour to sweet, and is frequently utilised in Persian cuisine and traditions.
Pomegranate Health Benefits:
Including pomegranate in your regular diet will help to improve and regulate blood flow and it also includes various minerals and vitamins, which help in preventing heart disease, diabetes, alzheimer’s disease, and cancer. As pomegranate juice decreases oxidative damage caused by exercise it can be considered as a performance enhancer that may help reduce soreness and improve muscle recovery. Recent studies have found drinking 230ml pomegranate juice before a workout can help reduce muscle soreness and that’s probably why most athletes and fitness enthusiasts are now considering pomegranate juice as a pre-workout drink.
Pomegranate contains two potent medicinal properties known as Punicic acid and Punicalagins- known to be potent antioxidants- which are found in pomegranate juice and peel.
Punicic Acid is the main fatty acid found in its arils (the proper name for the edible seeds found inside of a pomegranate). Punicalagins have been found to have three times the antioxidant activity of green tea and red wine. Therefore, pomegranate’s powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties can help prevent skin from sun damage and therefore it can help decrease the incidence of wrinkles and spots. In general, most of the health benefits of pomegranates are due to these two powerful substances.
Let’s take a look at a few fun facts about pomegranate which you probably didn’t know!
How to select the best pomegranate in store?
Choose a pomegranate with a deep red hue that appears to weigh a lot for its size when you're at the store. Scratch gently any skin that is shiny and devoid of blemishes. It's probably ripe if it's soft and simple to scratch. The fruit should be shaped like a squared-off round. The seeds within a pomegranate with this form have attained their juiciest potential. Also, remember that you can refrigerate your pomegranate for five days if you crack open the skin!
Good nutrition is crucial to getting the most out of your workout. Eating enough carbs helps you have the energy you need for a good workout session, while eating protein will help you maintain muscle mass and promote muscle growth if you are doing strength training. Finally, eating vegetables and fruits is important to get enough vitamins and minerals.
Most people take a pre-workout to get the boost they need for their training. However, some people are skeptical about pre-workouts and their effect on the body.
What is a pre-workout?
Generally, pre-workouts are mixed with water and taken 30 minutes before exercising. When taken in liquid form, they can be absorbed faster by the body, which improves their bioavailability. Normal pre-workout supplements contain a high amount of caffeine and they also contain amino acids, vitamins and creatine.
Are pre-workouts safe?
That depends entirely on your caffeine consumption: for most people, pre-workout is safe, but if you are already addicted to highly caffeinated drinks like coffee, pre-workout could pose a health risk in the long run. According to the FDA, a healthy adult should consume no more than 400 milligrams of caffeine per day (the equivalent of four cups of coffee). Most regular pre-workouts contain 100-400 milligrams of caffeine per serving.
For this reason, more and more people are looking for natural alternatives to get the pump they crave.
What should I look for when looking for a natural pre-workout?
A natural pre-workout can be a good solution to avoid the side effects of too much caffeine. Here are some good ingredients to look out for if you need a little pre-workout pick-me-up.
Bananas: a great source of carbohydrates with plenty of potassium to counteract muscle cramps.
Green tea: this contains the amino acid L-theanine, which can give you the much needed energy boost prior your workout.
Bread: a good source of carbohydrates that are easy to digest. You can also top it with some nut butter to add some protein.
Oats: a complex carbohydrate source that is easier to digest than other whole grains and contains thiamine, which is a vitamin B that plays a role in energy production.
Beetroot: a natural alternative to synthetic nitric oxide that lowers blood pressure and improves athletic performance.
Our shot of ginger and beetroot shot is an ideal drink for your pre-workout. Beetroot juice is very popular in the world of sports as it is known to enhance athletic performance and promote recovery during workouts. Martial arts journalist and athlete George Glinski told us in an interview that since he added our beetroot shot to his boxing program, he has seen a massive improvement in his performance and endurance.
Beetroot contains nitrates, which are often found in synthetic form in pre-workout supplements. These are converted in the body into nitric oxide, which dilates blood vessels. This can lead to increased oxygen capacity and improve muscle function during exercise.
We recommend drinking Fighter Shots Ginger and Beetroot two hours before your workout to enjoy its benefits.
]]>UK households squander around 70% of 9.5 million tonnes of food waste every year (Source: The Guardian). While a large portion of climate change responsibility lies with governments and large corporations, there are many ways for consumers to lower emissions in their households through sustainable choices. How can we unite to create a waste-free future, and work together to put climate change at the forefront of our dietary decisions?
Lowering Emissions Through Healthy Choices.
It’s no secret that the food industry has capitalised on convenience in recent years. Many working adults often have little time to cook meals for themselves and opt for the cheaper and less time-consuming options of pre-packaged foods and microwaveable meals. A recent study, carried out by The American Chemical Society, states that US households could potentially lower emissions by 29% by buying less pre-packaged and high calorie count foods (Source: Food Dive). The study indicates that bypassing convenient ‘junk’ foods could have a huge impact on greenhouse gas emissions if many households worldwide opt for organic and plant-based foods with less packaging where they can.
Purchasing ‘Imperfect’ Foods That Would Otherwise Be Thrown Away.
Ever wondered what happens to the wonky fruits and vegetables we never seem to see on our supermarket shelves? They are often disposed of due to imperfections. By purchasing fruits and vegetables through suppliers such as Oddbox, customers can buy perfectly healthy foods that would otherwise be disposed of due to their appearance.
Freezing food for longevity.
How often do you manage to get through a loaf of bread before it goes mouldy? Often, we buy food that we feel like we’ll finish, but for whatever reason we never manage to quite beat the ‘Best Before’ date to it. By freezing foods to ensure their longevity- such as bread, bananas, berries, butter, hard cheeses, pasta sauce, soups, nuts, and flour- it saves the environment as well as your hard-earned money. Food is less likely to be thrown away as it is not exposed to elements that would make it rot or expire, using small portions of it at a time.
Grow Your Own!
Utilise some space in your garden or on your windowsill to grow fruits and vegetables from home. By growing your own fruits and vegetables from home, you can have the same great produce without the potentially harmful packaging. Some of the easiest fruits and vegetables to grow include:
Why not try growing some of these this weekend?
Compost Any Unused Fruit and Vegetables for Your Garden.
If you are lucky enough to have access to a compost at home, consider using it to break down your unused foods in a sustainable manner that can feed your garden. Emptied tea bags, uncooked fruit and vegetable peelings, and cardboard packaging, can all be used to create an excellent compost to fertilise growing plants. This is a great alternative to throwing away your fruit and vegetable peels and instead giving them back to your garden.
Go Plastic-Free Where Possible.
Food packaging largely contributes to our waste, as much of it is non-recyclable. According to a study by Which? In 2019, only 52% of supermarket packaging is recyclable. This is a huge problem that companies must fix to commit to lowering emissions within their production lines. If consumers can boycott non-recyclable packaging, this may encourage companies to rethink their unsustainable branding strategies.
Fighter Shots has committed to the plastic-free movement through using recyclable and sustainable premium glass bottles for their shots, and we consistently encourage other businesses to ditch the plastic via our social media.
Cutting down food waste isn’t easy in a world designed for cheap convenience, but every consumer has the power to make a small change. We hope that food and drink companies will notice the urgent need for sustainable responses to food waste and unite with consumers to create an even more environmentally conscious industry.

]]>When it comes to diet, we mostly pay attention to the foods we eat but we skip the hydration part and forget the fact that good hydration is one of the most important aspects of the diet. As a result, it's critical that we choose foods that promote hydration by restoring lost salt, electrolytes, and amino acids, as well as encouraging fluid consumption by eliciting thirst.
All biological functions and activities, including digestion and excretion, rely heavily on water. You can easily feel the consequences of dehydration once levels of fluid in your body drops only slightly.
Dehydration can cause weariness, headaches, skin problems, dry mouth, lethargy, poor concentration, muscle cramps, low blood pressure, and a high heart rate if you don't drink enough water. Dehydration may cause these symptoms:
How Much Water Should We Drink To Stay Hydrated?
Adults should consume 1.5–2 litres of fluid every day. A standard mug or glass holds approximately 200 millilitres (ml), equating to 8-10 sips each day. Also, if you want to calculate how much fluid your body exactly needs you should know your weight, then drink half an ounce to an ounce of water for every pound you weigh daily. For example, if you weigh 140 pounds, that would be 90 to 100 ounces of water a day.
Children require slightly less and should aim for 6-8 glasses per day, but once they reach adolescence, their needs are similar to those of adults. That's not all, though. Your body also loses water in some instances, such as when you sweat in hot weather, when you exercise or when you have a fever, or when you have diarrhoea or vomiting, and this water must be supplied.
There is a website known as hydration for health, which can calculate your daily calorie intake from liquids, and it will give your hydration status based on your answers to their questions. It simply tells you the amount of water you typically lose every day and the water you typically get from foods every day.
Eight Facts You May Not Know About Hydration:
You Don’t Need To Just Drink Water To Stay Hydrated. Take A Look At These Alternatives:
We all know water is essential for survival as it regulates the body fermeture, brings nutrients and oxygen to cells, protects organs and tissue, moisturising eyes, nose, and mouth tissue, and flushes out waste products from our body. But you don’t need to only drink the tap water to stay hydrated. Many water-rich foods help you stay hydrated. Let's have a look at how much water is present in some of the foods we consume daily:
What Is Water Intoxication?
Every cell in the body needs water to function correctly. However, if you drink too much water, water Intoxication can happen, which is a potentially fatal disruption in brain functioning that occurs when the body's normal electrolyte balance is pushed beyond safe limits by excessive water intake. In the other words, when a person drinks more water than their kidneys can eliminate through urine, overhydration and water intoxication, which is also known as Hyperhydration, Overhydration, Water Toxaemia, and Water Poisoning occur.
Water intoxication symptoms usually emerge after drinking more than 3 to 4 litres of water in a short period of time. Water intoxication is rare, but spotting the signs is vital.
If you are in military service or training intensively during sports events then you might accidentally drink too much water. As a result of this, you may feel headaches, nausea, vomiting, double vision, confusion, muscle weakness, and difficulty in berating. Water intoxication can also cause brain enlargement, which can be fatal in rare situations.
What we recommend for a better and healthier body and skin:
Fighter Shots’ team recommends you consume 5 different fruits, at least 7 glasses of water and drink one ginger shot as a replacement for the last glass of water every day. This routine can help you to stay hydrated and have healthier, less dull skin. Skin seems duller and wrinkles and pores become more visible if you don't drink enough water. Skin that is properly hydrated plumps up and increases its elasticity, making it less prone to cracking, irritations, and blemishes. So, if you are more conscious about your skin health then we would recommend our Ginger + Collagen shots which contain 3000mg hydrolysed marine collagen.
In response to this, countries have responded by creating measures to reduce sugar in the diet, including market limitations, charges/taxes on sugar-sweetened refreshments. Other examples involve front-of-pack warning labels, and ban of sale of sugary drinks in schools. The UK government has attempted to tackle the issue by adding a 20% sugar tax to fizzy drinks.
Why Sugar Awareness is Essential to a Healthy Lifestyle
Sugars can be an unnecessary and unhealthy source of calories, and is has become a greater concern due to the issues associated with excessive sugar consumption.
There are various types of sugar in the diet, from naturally occurring, free sugars, organic juices and smoothies. It can be quite difficult to determine how much sugar we are consuming.
Throughout the body, excess sugar causes harm. Even a single instance of elevated glucose inside the bloodstream can be dangerous to the brain, resulting in slowed cognitive function and deficits in memory, thought process and attention.
Elevated blood glucose additionally harms blood vessels. Blood vessel harm is the essential cause of the vascular complications of diabetes, leading to other troubles; this includes damage to blood vessels in the brain and eyes causing retinopathy.
Free sugars are typically added to flavoured yoghurts, cereals, fizzy drinks, biscuits and chocolate. Naturally occurring sugars such as honey, maple syrup and nectars still count as free sugars.
Normally found in whole fruit, vegetables and milk-based products, naturally occurring sugars are not considered harmful for health, however they still contain some calories.
High sugar intake impacted on weight
Sugar is the largest contributor to weight gain and obesity in the UK. In children, sugar excess may additionally account for concentration problems, sleep deprived, hyperactivity and digestive upset.
Sugars are 'basic carbs', and are additionally found in fructose and glucose in fruit. These basic carbohydrates provide you energy, however, consuming too much of it means the body can't process them appropriately, which over the long run prompts the abundance being stored as body fat.
These are not to be confused with 'complex sugars', which are found in starchy vegetables, whole grains, rice and cereal. These are more deficient in giving the body energy, which implies you don't need to eat as many and thusly put on less weight.
Sugar Replacers and other artificial sweeteners
There are many sugar replacers available for purchase. They have somewhat various capacities, taste profiles and the amount of research conducted on them varies.
Sugar replacers are otherwise referred as 'artificial sweeteners', 'sugar substitutes', 'low calorie sugars', 'focused energy sugars', 'mass sugars' or 'non-nutritive sugars.
Because they are hundreds of times sweeter than sugar, only tiny amounts are needed to equal the sweetening power of sugar. Before the government approves the use of any sweetener it carefully scrutinizes the process of production, the type of food it would be used in, how much an individual would consume in one day and the potential harm it can cause.
Snacks – Alternative sugar dietary techniques
Healthier snack choices are those without added sugar, such as fruit natural product (fresh, tinned or frozen), unsalted nuts, unsalted rice cakes, oatcakes, or homemade plain popcorn.
You could begin by having fewer snacks in case you're not prepared to give up your favourite flavours. Rather than 2 bread rolls in 1 sitting, take a stab at having 1. In the event that your snack has 2 bars, have 1 and offer the other, or save it for one more day.
When shopping, pay special mind to lower-sugar (and lower-fat) forms of your favourite snacks. Purchase smaller packs, or avoid the family packs and simply go for the normal sized packets will contribute the level of sugar you intake.
Whether it’s your first time attempting to reduce the sugars in your diet or you have had done so previously, the most important result is not just the reflection it is having upon you but the influence you have by helping others become more sugar aware.
]]>Fresh ginger is a great way to spice up your stir-fries or give your breakfast a fiery taste. Ginger does not only add an incredible taste to your meals but it also contains various health benefits. Ginger has been used for decades in ayurvedic medicine to strengthen the immune system, reduce motion sickness and improve blood flow.
Having ginger in your cupboard is a must for your wellness routine. Keep reading this article to find out the best way to add ginger to your recipes!
How to pick the best ginger root?
Look for ginger with shiny, firm skin. The ginger skin must be thin, it should be easy to scrape the skin with your nails. Don't pick a ginger that has any soft spots! This means that the roots have been on the store shelf for too long.
How to prepare ginger for cooking?
You don't necessarily need to peel off the ginger's skin, the ginger outer skin is so thin that once it's cooked you won't even realize it was left on. You could also remove the skin as it saves you precious cooking time. Scrape the edge of a spoon against your ginger root to peel off the skin. Only remove the skin from part of the ginger you need for your recipe. Ginger stays fresh for longer with the skin on. However, if you decide to conserve your ginger in the freezer you can remove the skin, this will not affect it.
There are different ways to cut your ginger. Personally, if I use ginger in a stir-fry, I grate it with a grater. However, if I'm adding ginger to my tea or smoothie, I will cut it in round thin slices.
Where to buy fresh ginger?
Over the past few years people have been more and more interested in healthy foods. Ginger being one of the most beneficial roots for your health, is now a day almost present in every supermarket and health store and in general you can find ginger in the vegetable area.

Tea
To smooth your sore throat or just to enjoy the ginger health benefits, drinking ginger tea with some lemon and honey is perfect to warm you up. The cold weather is coming, which means it’s time to prepare your immune system with superfoods such as ginger or turmeric.
To make ginger tea you only need to boil some water, add around 8 grams of ginger, 1 tsp of honey and a slice of lemon. You can also add a bit of cinnamon if you desire. Alternatively, you can one of our ginger shots to 250ml of hot water.
Stir-fry
One of my favourite ways to enjoy fresh ginger is in stir-fries.I’m a massive fan of noodles and ginger goes so well with it. I use around 2 tsp of grated fresh ginger, for a 2 person stir-fry. You should incorporate ginger in your recipe in the same time you add the veggies and garlic to your pan.
Soup
It’s finally fall; this means that the pumpkin season it's officially here. Ginger and pumpkin are a wonderful pairing. Next time, when you make a pumpkin soup, why not add some ginger? This will add some flavor to your dish and increase the soup's health benefits.
Jamie Oliver, will confirm it. His pumpkin soup recipe contains 75gr of fresh ginger for a maximized taste.
If you are reading this, you are probably curious about how you can easily adopt an anti-inflammatory diet to reduce symptoms of common health conditions.
Firstly, inflammation is an immune response - a natural and necessary process that helps your body to heal and defend itself from harm, often demonstrating itself externally through aches, pains and swelling. Despite this being a common bodily response, inflammation in the body can be harmful when it becomes chronic.
Chronic inflammation can lead to various chronic illnesses such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and Parkinson’s disease. Fortunately, inflammation levels are somewhat in your control. Lifestyle factors such as excessive drinking, smoking and eating the wrong foods can increase the risk of inflammation.
Some foods contain ingredients that can trigger or worsen inflammation. Adopting an anti-inflammatory diet can help to reduce these symptoms and the risk of developing inflammatory conditions, whilst improving your overall health.
Whilst there is no specific diet that works for everyone, adopting an anti-inflammatory diet is more of a lifestyle (think of the classic Mediterranean diet), focused around filling your plate with food that helps to fight inflammation, and cutting out foods that contribute to triggering it.
Here are our top tips for adopting an anti-inflammatory diet to help reduce your symptoms and risk:
1. Avoid processed foods such as crisps and cakes, especially processed meats like salami, hams and limit your intake of high-fat red meat. Excess consumption of saturated fat will increase inflammation.
2. Choose whole-grain starches, fresh fruits and vegetables. These contain dense nutrients and a range of vitamins and minerals necessary for optimal health.
3. Consume a variety of colourful vegetables, fruits and grains weekly.
4. Choose skinless poultry, fish, eggs and fat-free Greek Yoghurt. These are all sources of protein, as well as Vitamin D, probiotics and unsaturated fat which don’t promote an inflammatory response.
5. Choose healthier fats, such as monounsaturated and omega-3 fats, thought to neutralise inflammation. Examples of monounsaturated fats are olive oil, avocados and nuts. Consumption of healthier fats is associated with decreased risk of heart disease and cancer, which are both related to inflammation. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in wild salmon, tuna, walnuts and ground flaxseed - an essential fat our bodies cannot make and must be obtained from our diets.
6. Limit your intake of refined starches (white starch) and added sugars (energy drinks, white or brown sugar, fizzy drinks). Lacking in nutrients, these foods promote inflammatory symptoms such as elevated blood glucose and lipid levels.
7. Limited saturated fats - such as butter, cheese and whole milk. Our bodies are designed to only intake a small amount of saturated fats in our daily diet, with excess intake triggering an inflammatory response.

Herbs and spices are classified as plant-based ingredients that enhance the flavour of any cuisine. It can be difficult to tell the difference between the two.
What are herbs and spices?
Roots, rhizomes, stems, leaves, bark, flowers, fruits, and seeds are all examples of plant parts that can be used to make spices. However, herbs are usually considered non-woody plants. No one knows yet when the first herbs and spices were used as flavouring agents by humans but we know early man co-evolved with the flowering plants in the world around him starting 6 million years ago.
Garlic and onions were used 4,500 years ago, according to archaeological evidence. Spices were utilised by humans to help preserve meals prior to refrigeration. Both were also used in religious rituals, medicines, seasoning, and trade. Also, it is very interesting to know that spices appear in the Bible on a number of occasions.
In his journey memoirs, Marco Polo regularly mentioned spices (around AD 1298). He praised the flavour of Afghan sesame oil, as well as the ginger and cassia plants of Kain-du (Peking), where residents drank tasty rice and spice wine.
In this blog, we don’t want to speak about a specific spice or herb. We actually want to share some facts about herbs which you didn’t know, or you didn’t expect.
You are more than welcome to share the facts you know about herbs and spices with us through our social channels including Instagram and we will share them with our audience.
31 Things you didn’t know about spices and herbs!
1. Focus on your diet.
Diet is the most important key to keeping skin healthy. Try incorporating fatty fish into your winter diet. Fatty fish- such as mackerel, salmon, and herring, are rich in Omega 3- great to keep skin moisturised and feeling firm and supple. Omega 3 also has the potential to reduce inflammation. As fatty fish have such a high Omega 3 content, having a few fish suppers in the winter can really improve skin health.
Avocados are a great source of Vitamin E, much like almonds, and are high in healthy fats. The fats and vitamins available naturally in avocados aid the skin’s flexibility and moisture.
Adding other vegetables to your diet, such as broccoli and bell peppers, are great sources of Vitamins C and A. Vitamin C is great for collagen production in the body, keeping skin firm and promoting cell renewal. Vitamin A can support the immune system and good vision so foods rich in Vitamins C and A are especially important during winter.
2. Getting enough Vitamin D
In the UK, Vitamin D deprivation is common. A survey had shown that 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 5 children in the UK suffer from low Vitamin D levels (Source: Patient). Therefore, it’s so important to keep Vitamin D levels at a regulated amount using supplements. Vitamin D supplements will be available from your local health shop but remember to visit a GP if you feel you need professional advice.
3. Moisturising
To keep your skin’s natural glow, remember to moisturise regularly. Try using both a night and day cream if you can- the day cream being lighter on your skin, and the night cream providing richer moisture overnight. Don’t forget to moisturise your whole body too- including dry patches such as knees, ankles, elbows, and the soles of your feet! These can become particularly dry during winter especially.
4. Massage Your Face to Improve Blood Flow
Facial massages can improve blood flow in the skin, delivering oxygen to the cells through even distribution and removing waste products that serve no purpose to overall skin health. Try massaging your face once a day for ten minutes with some of these techniques:
5. Try A Homemade Face Mask
Homemade face masks can be a fun way to improve overall skin health from home. Try using superfruits proven to improve skin health, such as:
6. Hydration is Key
Don’t forget to drink 2 litres of water a day to keep your vital organs hydrated as well as your skin. Dehydration can cause itchy, dry skin, and potentially increase signs of ageing. Dehydration can also cause headaches, tiredness, a dry mouth, and light-headedness. All things to avoid! Keep a bottle of water always filled with you and don’t forget to take regular drink intervals.

Functional foods can be defined as foods which are fortified with nutrients that may prove difficult to incorporate into a diet by themselves (such as Omega 3 or Vitamin D).
Functional foods help to reduce the risk of disease, and potentially can have a positive impact on overall health. Examples of functional foods include fatty fish, legumes, seeds, nuts, and fruits such as kiwis, berries and oranges and bananas. Some vegetables, such as courgettes, spinach, broccoli, and kale, are also classified as functional foods.
Overall, functional foods are rich in important nutrients such as minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, and healthy sources of fat.
Did you know?

The consumption of functional foods provides enhanced health benefits that can champion foods with basic nutritional value, with the potential to aid immune health and reduce the risk of illness.
How much of this should you be adding to your diet? As of now, there is no official recommendation. However, it’s recommended to eat functional foods that are rich in vitamins and nutrients as often as possible. So how can these be added to meals?
How Can You Add Functional Foods To Your Diet?
In a Salad: many functional foods can be added to salads! Try making a fruit salad using berries, peaches, oranges, and bananas, or maybe a leafy green salad with broccoli, spinach, and kale. Couscous is also a functional food, why not try a couscous salad with roasted vegetables?
In a Soup: Functional foods such as lentils and chickpeas make a great base for a soup.
As Seasoning: Turmeric is a great seasoning, famed for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities. It tastes great when added to scrambled eggs, curries, soups, and roasted vegetables.

3. ‘Eat your sun protection’ - foods high in UV-protecting nutrients
Looking for extra sun protection? Look into your daily diet!
Certain foods can boost your body’s natural SPF, absorbing free radicals and protecting your skin, a great way to boost your sun protection on top of topical SPF.
5 foods that can provide you with natural SPF:
Tomatoes - the rich red colour found in tomatoes comes from lycopene, a carotenoid which absorbs both UVA and UVB radiation. Lycopene in tomatoes is a super antioxidant, absorbing free radicals and protecting against DNA damage.
Watermelon - Watermelons are also high in lycopene, protecting your skin and body from the free radicals that come with the sun’s rays and pollution. High in Vitamin C, it can also help to rapidly repair any damaged skin cells or redness.
Greens - Leafy greens are high in antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, which have been found to protect against wrinkling, sun damage and even skin cancer. When you consume greens, your skin gets a dose of Vitamin E, further protecting your skin from the sun and preventing pigmentation.
Blueberries - Blueberries are rich in powerful antioxidants, fighting off skin-damaging free radicals caused by sun exposure and stress. They are also high in Vitamin C, which helps to prevent wrinkles caused by sun exposure.
Nuts and Seeds - seeds such as walnuts, chia seeds, hemp seeds and flax seeds all contain omega-3 essential fatty acids, which can also be found in fish and eggs. Omega-3’s are anti-inflammatory, helping your skin to naturally cope with the effects of too much sun exposure.
4. Stay covered up where possible
You can stay covered up and cool in the summer - wearing breathable fabrics are key to limiting the amount of skin exposed to the sun’s rays. Loose fabrics such as crisp cotton and cool linen are your staples for summer to keep your body covered and cool. Add a wide-brimmed sun hat to keep your face and scalp protected and you’re good to go.
5. Keep on top of your skincare
Regular sun cream application, sweat and pollution amongst other contaminants can build up on your skin over time, clogging your pores. Alongside cleansing twice a day, gentle exfoliation of your face and body can help to clear your pores and allow products to absorb into the skin more effectively, allowing for extra protection and hydration.
Looking for an extra skin boost? Try our Ginger and Marine Collagen shots. Collagen is known to boost skin’s elasticity and prevent signs of ageing which is known to develop through excess sun exposure over time.

Change means making someone or something different; alter or modify. Or replacing (something) with something else, especially something of the same kind that is newer or better.
Do you have difficulty planning your month ahead of time? Perhaps you have no difficulty making plans, but due to some circumstances, these keep changing. In our professional life, change is constant, and it means that change is occurring continuously. This should be an expected condition in life. Every day, whether it's a simple shift in the weather, our schedule, our jobs or roles, or the predicted change of seasons, we all encounter change. Sometimes it can be really stressful.
Internal changes vs external changes
There are two types of change in our lives. The first type of change is an ‘intentional change’, which means you are making changes intended to make your life better, easier, and less stressful. We can consider these changes as an internal change as it encourages progress.
Internal changes will help you focus, and it enables you to become the person you want to be. Remember, you are your own boss. Therefore, you need to continuously change by improving your lifestyle, developing your skills, changing your routines, and changing your location. If you are not happy about where you work or where you live, then you can easily move to where you enjoy being. Remember you are not a tree, it is perfectly acceptable to ‘uproot’ yourself to better your quality of life.
On the other hand, there are some unexpected changes in life which you least expect to happen. But these changes do occur! We can consider these uncontrollable changes as an ‘external change’, which will give you the experience and drive to push forward. These adjustments will frequently have a significant impact on our careers. These changes will teach you new things, whether they appear to be good or unpleasant at that moment in time. Change makes a person adaptable, understanding and prepared for the future. Because these changes occur without prior antecedents, they are usually stressful for us.
But you know what? You can easily decline these changes if you are not ready to accept them. However, you must weigh the advantages that a new experience or opportunity may offer to you or your project. Taking chances and dealing with failure is all part of the life and life without these changes has no meaning!
Fortunately, there are ways to adapt to change, and even to take advantage of it.
Instead of focusing on your worries, think about your goals and values.
Many troubles and unexpected changes may be ailing us, but keep in mind that there are many important people and activities in your life which can inspire you and keep you happy. These things that make you happy may include your family, friends, interests, music, movies, your favourite sport, or many other things. So, don’t let it bring you down. What I personally do once I face a new change in my life, is to start writing down my thoughts on a piece of paper and then I write possible decisions and I consult with trusted and accepted people. Getting practical advice from trusted people always helps you grow and decreases your stress level.
Write it down and you will find a solution
The idea that we can "get over '' our anger, fears, and disappointments by talking about them a lot is one of the most popular illusions about coping with undesirable changes. That isn't always the case, though. Indeed, studies demonstrate that purposefully and persistently broadcasting unpleasant emotions thwarts our natural adaptation mechanisms. This is one of the reasons why talking about the problem over and over makes you feel worse. For some people, constant discussion will remind them of the issue at hand. Personally, I believe writing and exploring pros and cons helps me reach the best decision. Sometimes, we are overwhelmed with many thoughts, changes, concerns, and issues and we really don’t know where to start!
How can we actually overcome this fear and anxiety? The truth is we have to write them down and start making a decision for the one which is easiest and tick that box. Once you see you have made a good decision or made the right decision for the first concern then you will get the power to solve others.
Change means progress
Things change in life and that’s why we are living life! Life without changes doesn’t allow us to grow. Sometimes we just look forward and we don’t have time to look back at how far we have come and reflect on how well we progressed.
Take time for reflection. Keep note of your achievements and changes- even small ones time to time! - and celebrate them to motivate yourself ☺
Your goal should always be to improve, and the best way to achieve that is to implement improvements like training and learning.
We face changes in business too!
Not every company, manager or employee is receptive to change, but we are! We are and will always be open to changes and new challenges especially during this uncertain time. During this pandemic, we were able to turn restrictions into opportunities. We launched our first vegan beetroot shot and we welcomed three new interns to our team by participating in the Government Kickstart Scheme. We collaborated with brands, we were nominated as an exceptional performance start-up and much more.
We also focused and developed a new PR strategy and had interviews with big names like the BBC! So, it is possible to progress while we are living in an uncertain time and facing unwilling challenges.
You are always free to accept or reject changes, but before you do, please step back and think about both advantages and disadvantages of the decision you make. Then you are happy and proud of every decision you make because you made that decision with prior knowledge.
So now you tell us, what is your story? When was the last time you faced unexpected changes? How did you deal with that?

Working all day sitting in the same space, staring at your computer can be physically and mentally exhausting—a sedentary lifestyle increases all-cause of mortality, depression and anxiety.
I'm not telling you to quit your desk job; I love mine and wouldn't want to do another job. However, you have to keep in mind that staying sitting down is not the best for your body. There are a few things that you can do to keep your body active and your mind at peace.
It is extremely important to keep a good posture while working at your desk. This will leave your body pain-free.
I had often found myself suffering from back pains due to bad posture. To ensure your body is in the correct position, you can invest in an ergonomic chair and an ergonomic cushion for lower back support.
In addition, you should also check if your screen is adjusted to your eye level; this will prevent you from constantly looking down and straining your neck. If you are not able to change your screen, you can buy a monitor riser stand.
When you are taking your five minutes breaks, try to do something that will help your body. It can be walking to the lunchroom to refill your tea or doing minor stretches; these actions help your blood flow circulation, which will help you feel more motivated and active. Besides, when you are constantly sitting down, your metabolism slows down; moving will help you reactivate it and burn more fat!
Take care of your eyes during your break. The first thing that most people do when starting their break is checking their phones. However, if you are already fixing a screen all day long, your eyes must be tired. To reduce eye strain, you can focus for a few minutes on objects far away during your break or practice eye massage.
Working at a desk job doesn't mean that you can't be active. First, you can invest in a standing desk. I've to admit this is not for me, but it can be excellent for your body if you can focus the same while working standing up.
Secondly, you can go to work on foot, or if the journey is too long, you can choose to take the stairs instead of the elevator to go to your office.
Thirdly, you can wake up early and have a morning walk; working from home, I don't have anywhere to go, so I like to walk in the morning or during my lunchtime to keep my body active!
Additionally, it would be best if you also enjoyed your free time to do some sport, working out is what your body needs to stay in good health. Don't give yourself the excuse "I'm not sportive, I don't like sport". There are so many sports available! I'm sure that if you do a little bit of research, you will find the one for you!
It goes without saying that a healthy body first starts with good alimentation. To avoid unhealthy snacking, try to eat well-balanced meals! Good food keeps your moods and energy level up; this is what you need to be your best at work. You can also give an extra boost to your body by drinking one of our ginger shots in the morning or at lunch to fight mid-afternoon fatigue!
In addition, try to eat your dinner at least 2.5 hours before going to bed; if you eat too late, it'll interfere with your sleep and make you feel worse and groggy the following day.
Working in a great environment makes you feel automatically better. Take the time each time you start or finish your day to clean your desk. This will help you from feeling overwhelmed by clutter. Keeping your desk organise it's a must for your mental health and productivity. Also, decorate your desk and make it look beautiful; this will make you feel more at home. You can put some flowers and cute pictures on your desk. You can also choose to use some pretty stationeries. I'm a massive fan of Paperchase and Typo for stationery decorations.
If you can work outside, try to do it. Go in a park or on your balcony and get your healthy dose of vitamin D! Moreover, working outdoors helps to reduce stress and improves your energy levels. There is nothing such as breathing the fresh air to feel revitalised.
Why should all your meetings take place in a meeting room or at the restaurant? Grab a Fighter Shots and go for a walking meeting; this can be a great way to add some activity to your work schedule. Besides, walking outside improves your creativity, it's a win-win for a more healthy body and more productive work!
Having in front of you inspirational quotes every day will help you feel more positive and determined to get your tasks done. Besides, if you often read wellness quotes, it will help you remember this article and apply all the wellness tips I just gave you to keep your body healthy and happy! You can print some quotes and have them around your office or add them as your computer's background.
I would never repeat it enough, but drinking water is essential to keep your body healthy and energised. Besides, did you know that drinking water can prevent you from overeating? One of the first reasons people overeat is dehydration.
Keep a bottle next to you and give yourself a water intake objective; for example, if you have a small bottle of 500ml, try to drink at least three of them every day.
As you can see, there are many things that you can do to stay active while working in an office job! Move your body as often as you can, eat healthily, and you will feel fantastic.
Listening to your body’s social battery:
Our body has ways of telling us when it is tired or has reached its limit. If you are having difficulty focusing, feeling fidgety, tired, or burned out, then these are all likely signs of needing to retreat and spend time alone. If you are having trouble setting boundaries with people, try leaving ‘slots’ in your day for as long as you like. Use this time to ensure that you have time to focus on your own needs in a safe space.
Building immunity, boosting energy, and giving yourself a well-needed lift:
Get yourself into good habits by taking your Fighter Shot every morning before going out the door! Fighter Shots contain all-natural ingredients, such as ginger, a powerful antioxidant that can reduce inflammation, protect the body against colds and flu, and reduce nausea and pain.
Know when to take a break (and not feel guilty about it):
Don’t forget to take breaks regularly throughout the day! It can be easy to continue your day without listening to your body, realising you are hungry, in need of a rest, or a change of scenery. Try going for a short walk on your lunch break or using this time to do something you love, like talking to friends and family or simply watching an episode of your favourite TV show. Everyone needs time to rest and unwind, it's important to set these boundaries to ensure that you have a divide between being available for work and other commitments and doing things that rest your mind.
Go at your own pace:
Maybe you are excited for lockdown restrictions to lift, but anxious about attending too many social events at once. It is completely understandable to feel excited and yet still overwhelmed by these changes. Communicate with those closest to you the pace you plan to go at, events you are excited to attend, some you may give a miss. By talking to other people around you, you may even realise you are not the only one experiencing these feelings.
Reframe negative thoughts and document your feelings:
Another great habit to get into is making a note of your emotions and analysing the process behind them. If you are feeling particularly anxious, it might help to document this and ask yourself why you are feeling this way. It might help you to recognise the early onset signs later and help you to vocalise these feelings to other people. You can share your thought process with people you feel close to, or simply use this to become more self-aware without feeling the need to discuss.
You may experience negative thoughts about lockdown ending, it is always important to attempt to reframe these. It might help you to write down and separate these thoughts and take a more positive approach if possible. You might feel anxious about seeing a large group of friends but choose to reframe this feeling by understanding you can leave whenever you want to and go into the situation with an open mind.
We hope that these tips help you to get into good habits ahead of lockdown restrictions lifting. Remember, you are not alone in the way you feel. We encourage anyone who is struggling with post-lockdown anxiety to share these thoughts with trusted family and friends to ease this stress.
Are you looking forward to restrictions ending? What are you most excited to do?

2. Onions
Onions are amongst one of the easiest vegetables to regrow.
Step 1: Cut off the root end of the onion, leaving roughly 1/2 an inch of onion on the root.
Step 2: Leave the onion Botton to dry for up to 24 hours.
Step 3: Poke skewers or toothpicks into each side of the onion, resembling an ‘x’.
Step 4: Suspend your onion root over water while it roots for up to 4 days, ready for planting.
Step 5: When it grows small roots, plant the onion roots in a pot with soil and fill with more soil to cover the onion.
Step 6: Keep watering when necessary and your onions will grow! This can take anywhere from 90-120 days, so be patient!
3. Ginger
The wonder ingredient of our shots, Ginger, can be regrown with a lot of patience - it may take anything from 8 to 10 months to harvest a fully grown bulb.
Step 1: Purchase some organic ginger, Look for pieces with well developed growth buds. The buds look like little horns at the end of a piece or “fingers” of the ginger. These roots can be cut and sectioned at the buds and planted so that each will grow into an individual plan .
Step 2: Soak the root in warm water overnight prior to planting.
Step 3: In a shallow, wide plant pot, add well-draining potting soil.
Step 4: In the pot, place the ginger root with the bud pointing upwards, covering the bud with 1-2 inches more of soil. Water lightly.
Step 5: Place the spot in an area that stays warm, without being in direct sunlight
Step 6: Keep soil moist - after a few months, small pieces of ginger may be able to be harvested. Don’t forget to replace the soil every few months to encourage growth.
4. Spring Onions
The easiest vegetable to regrow with quick results!
Step 1: Trim the tops of the onions and place them in a glass of water, keeping the root end of the onion immersed in water, filled up to where the onions start to turn green.
Step 2: In a few days, you should see spring onion re-growing from the cut area. You can continue to re-cut these as they grow!
Step 3: Change the water every few days to make sure they keep growing and healthy.
5. Garlic Greens
What are garlic greens? Garlic greens are the shoots that emerge from a clove before the bulb forms - they taste similar to garlic chives, and resemble spring onions. Garlic greens can be added to your favourite dishes - from soups to pasta and stir-fries.
Step 1: Purchase a garlic bulb from a grocery store, remove one or more individual cloves with paper-like white skin attached.
Step 2: To sprout your cloves, wrap them in a damp paper towel and place them in a warm area. Cloves should begin to sprout after a couple of days.
Step 3: Place the sprouted clove in a small, clear container. Ensure that the pointed, sprouted end is facing upward.
Step 4: Fill a container with room temperature water. The water level should cover a little less than half of the garlic sprout.
Step 5: Place the container on a windowsill. Ensure that the location you choose gets eight to 12 hours of sunlight per day. If the tops of your sprouting garlic cloves start to wilt, they may be receiving too much light, and you should remove your container from the windowsill for one to two days.
Step 6: Changing the water when necessary - if the water turns brown and cloudy, refresh with clean, room temperature water.
Step 7: You should be able to harvest your garlic greens after a week! They will be ready to harvest once your shoots are between four to seven inches tall. When harvesting your garlic greens, snip off the top third of the shoot, as garlic greens are more bitter in taste near their base. Only harvest when you’re ready to eat!
6. Leeks
Regrowing leeks is similar to regrowing spring onions. The simple method is so handy to make the most out of your veggies.
Step 1: Purchase an organic leek.
Step 2: Leave 1-2 inches of the leek’s root ends and soak them root-first in a shallow container of lukewarm water.
Step 3: Place the container on a sunny windowsill, changing the water fairly frequently.
Step 4: Watch your leeks grow, you should see leeks start to regrow within a week!
Happy Growing!

2. BREAK DOWN YOUR GOALS. Everyone has a lot of ambitions at the beginning of something. However, many people give up on their dreams because their projects seem unattainable. Try to break down your goals. This will help you to make your desires more achievable. You can create a map of what you need to do to accomplish your plans; this is the best way to make sure you won't get discouraged. For example, your goal is to increase your social media reach by 20% this year. To realise that, you need to divide these goals into smaller tasks and attribute some times every day for these jobs. These tasks may be:
Create a post every day
Engage 30 minutes daily
Responds to all comments daily
Publish at least five stories every day
Don't forget to use the SMART method when setting goals. Each goal should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bounded.

According to Dr Russel Thackeray, a licensed Clinical Psychologist who consults on the term productivity, "People that look after themselves [and practice self-care] do have the better cognitive ability. They do have better focus, and they do have better concentration." Self-care also provides alone time. While social interaction is essential for good mental health, alone time is also beneficial for you. Science demonstrates that alone time can develop creativity, stimulate mental strength and improve empathy and productivity. Besides, it allows you to reflect on ideas and thoughts, solve problems and helps to know yourself better.
7.TURN OFF YOUR NOTIFICATIONS. Your phone can be a big distraction when you're working. One notification pop-up, and you can't stop yourself from replying to that message or email. I am not vegan, but I often question if this lifestyle is right for me or for my family and loved ones. As such, I decided to research what makes veganism tick and present my findings to anyone who may be curious about going vegan.
Have you asked the questions below from yourself as well?
Through asking myself these questions I found that veganism is a fantastic way to learn more about nutrition and cooking while also improving your diet. Plant-based nutrition frees up more space in your diet for health-promoting foods like whole grains, fruit, nuts, seeds, and vegetables, which are high in essential fibre, vitamins, and minerals. But there are absolutely more reasons why you it’s good to go vegan like:
For animals:
People who have some emotional attachments with animals and believe that they have a right to life and freedom, are surely the ones who go vegan first to prevent the exploitation of animals. Veganism is one of the most effective ways to help stop animal suffering. A vegan diet means refusing to pay for animal products lowering in demand for meat, resulting in fewer animals being bred to suffer and die on farms and in slaughterhouses.
These values can be translated to cosmetics and skincare too. It is more likely that vegan people also choose cruelty-free products including skincare. The term "cruelty-free" refers to a product that has not been tested on animals, including its ingredients and components.
For your health:
Firstly, let me mention that going vegan is suitable for people of all ages and stages of life, according to the British Dietetic Association and the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. To stay healthy, there is a need to have a healthy eating guideline. A healthy eating guideline provides all the nutrients that our bodies require. Vegan diets have been associated to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, as well as lower incidences of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and various cancers, according to certain studies.
Please keep in mind that you are not obligated to Switch at once!
It is always important to research more about the plus points and drawbacks of going vegan. I suggest you ask people who are vegan for a long time, from a dietitian or your nutritionist and remember that you won’t wake up one morning magically vegan. Therefore, it takes work, and it takes time. I would recommend you add more plant-based foods to your diet first, instead of cutting back on all animal products. Then make modest modifications, keeping track of how you're feeling along the way!
Reading food labels should be part of your habits
Checking food labels and verifying ingredients is necessary if you're warming up to a vegan lifestyle. Just because a food item isn't clearly non-vegan doesn't mean it's appropriate for a vegan diet. You should look for a label that says, 'Suitable For Vegans' or a 'Certified Vegan' emblem is the best method to tell if a product is vegan. If the product contains dairy, eggs, or seafood, the allergy ingredients list will mention so. When it comes to the UK, if a product is created in a factory with allergies, the maker must state so. Because the majority of dietary allergies are found in animal products, you may see a warning regarding milk, eggs, or even shellfish on a vegan product. Don't be concerned. It is still vegan.
You may ask when you eating out at a restaurant, how do you eat vegan?
The good news is that as more restaurants become aware of dietary restrictions and allergies, more menu alternatives for individuals who require them are becoming available.
Here are few tips for you and we always would love to hear your tips and experience.
Let's talk about supplements while you are on a vegan diet
Let me introduce few nutrients that you may need to supplement while you go vegan:
Some vegans believe they don't need to worry about vitamin B12 shortage if they eat enough of the correct plant sources. This vitamin is necessary for protein metabolism and the formation of oxygen-transporting red blood cells.

]]>We think about our general plastic wastage, especially in the kitchen - but do you ever wonder just how wasteful your daily beauty routine may be?
According to beatthemicrobead.org, the norm for beauty product packaging is plastic. Annually, the beauty industry worth $500billion, produces more than 120 billion units of packaging globally, with only 9% of all plastic waste being recycled, 12% incinerated and 79% ending up in landfills or the natural environment.
Beauty companies from well-known household names to small, independent brands with sustainability at the heart of everything they do, have been cleaning up their act to tackle beauty’s toxic practices. As consumers, making more conscious choices can continue to drive demand to make sustainability within the beauty industry the norm. Making simple swaps and more conscious choices when shopping for your essentials drives this demand, being kinder to the environment and your wallet over time.
Try out our simple swaps for a greener beauty routine below:
1. Swap shampoo bottles for shampoo bars, and shower gel bottles for a bar of soap
According to sources, 80 billion plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles get disposed of globally on an annual basis. Often, it is unclear to consumers whether these items can be recycled, thus ending up in our bathroom bins and going straight to landfill. Try simply switching to soap and shampoo bars, reducing your personal environmental footprint for the better.
2. Swap cotton pads for reusable bamboo pads
Using cotton pads are an essential part to most beauty routines, especially if you regularly wear make-up. Per beauty routine, we may reach for more than one cotton pad to ensure our skin is clean, without thinking about the potential environmental impact of using them.
According to Resolute Bamboo Care, the majority of single-use cotton pads are non-biodegradable and essentially indestructible. Single-use make up remover pads are made up of a significant amount of plastic, which can take hundreds of years to break down.
Switching to bamboo reusable cotton pads that can be washed and used hundreds of times, is one of the easiest and most effective swaps you can make - better for the environment and your wallet over time.
3. Swap single use packaging for refillables
Refillable beauty is becoming more widely accessible to the mass market, with household names such as The Body Shop launching hair and body care products designed to be refilled. This encourages consumers to buy the original packaging or an aluminium bottle for a one-off cost, and purchase refills which are packaged in materials that have significantly less environmental impact than repurchasing the original product, often at a discounted price as a further incentive. This concept has also trickled down to the fragrance industry, and selected skincare and make-up brands. This isn’t the easiest or most convenient swap to make, but to have it as an option and to be able to incorporate this into your buying habits will make a huge difference over time.
4. Swap cotton buds for bamboo or reusable silicone buds
In the UK alone, it is estimated that we use 1.8 billion, mostly single use plastic, cotton buds every year. High usage and widespread improper disposal, has resulted in the pollution of inland waterways and the marine environment, according to the Cotton Bud Project. Not only is cotton bud pollution widespread, once they are in the ocean, they pose a threat to wildlife and the environment.
Try switching to bamboo cotton buds - most options on the market are made from 100% biodegradable cotton and organically-grown bamboo. You can also try swapping to silicone-based washable ear buds that last up to 4 months at a time - either option can help you to reduce your environmental footprint significantly.
5. Replace your plastic razor for a safety razor with recyclable blades
Disposable plastic razors are not easily recycled because they are made from mixed materials and their sharp nature is hazardous, often clogging up landfill sites. The bulk of a disposable razor is non-biodegradable, meaning that there are billions of pieces of waste ending up in landfills every year. Razor blades will rust away, leaving behind the plastic handles and casing for decades.
Try swapping to reusable safety razors - they are usually made from stainless steel so if it does ever break, it's fully recyclable. There are also safety razors with bamboo stems, which are biodegradable and natural. Reusable safety razors are a great investment in a greener beauty routine that will pay off both environmentally and economically.
6. Try to shop from vegan, organic beauty brands
There are an array of toxic ingredients that are legal and common in many beauty brand’s products. As an everyday consumer, we don’t always know what is toxic as it isn’t common knowledge to us. A vast amount of brands also continue to test on animals.
An alternative to scanning every label of mainstream beauty products, try to swap to brands that have clean beauty and transparency at the heart of their business, with products free-from any ‘nasties’ and cruelty-free. Start by looking out for the widely used ‘leaping bunny’ symbol on packaging which indicates a cruelty-free product, as an effective way to start your greener beauty journey.
7. Swap regular dental floss for biodegradable versions
A majority of conventional dental floss is not recyclable and definitely not biodegradable or plastic-free. Floss is designed for everyday use, and with 30% of Brits flossing daily, shocking amounts of floss end up in landfill. Try swapping to eco-friendly, natural and biodegradable floss alternatives, so you can continue to floss and promote oral health whilst helping the planet and our oceans.
8. Switch to products in recycled, recyclable and reusable packaging
If product refills aren’t for you, look out for products that are made with recycled content but also are recyclable after you use them to keep the materials in circulation. It is also important to rinse out your packaging before putting it in the recycling bin, for a higher chance of it being recycled and kept away from our oceans and landfills. These small changes can really make a big difference.
9. Swap wipes for biodegradable wipes or hot cloths
It is universally known that wipes are not good for your skin, as many contain alcohol that dries out and doesn’t fully cleanse your skin. Wipes are extremely damaging to the environment, with conventional wet wipes taking decades to decompose in landfill, which is why many conscious consumers are swapping to biodegradable wipes that break down a lot more quickly and may even be compostable. If you want to ditch wipes overall, try microfibre make-up removing cloths or muslin cloths that you can wash and reuse.
There still is a lot of work for brands and consumers to do to tackle the climate crisis, but taking small steps towards a more sustainable way of living is key to long term, positive environmental impact. From actively shopping with brands like us at Fighter Shots that have sustainability as a priority through organically and ethically sourcing ingredients and using glass bottles, to simply making an effort to recycle more - collective small changes make a huge impact!

]]>1. Eat a wide variety of foods. This will help ensure you consume a wide variety of nutrients which help prevent deficiencies and keep your body working efficiently. Some studies have shown that people who eat 30 types of plant-based food each week have a more varied gut bacteria, and consequently, a healthier gut microbiome. Thus, they have a better immune system.
2. Prioritise starchy carbohydrates. Often seen as a diet enemy, carbohydrates are vital for a healthy body. Starchy carbohydrates such as wholemeal bread, rice, pasta, oats, maise, lentils provide a slow release of steady energy. They can help to control hunger and keep energy levels up. They also contain more fibre, vitamins and minerals and are healthier than white flours. Nonetheless, simple carbohydrates such as sugar, honey, fruits and white bread can also benefit your body. They are an excellent source of energy immediately before and during activity and help refuel the energy used instantly following exercises as they are broken down very quickly in your body, providing a fast source of energy.
3. Eat at least five portions of fruits and vegetables daily. Fruits and veggies are loaded with micronutrients, vital for staying healthy. Eating them will give you a natural mood boost, help you feel more energised, and lower your risk of severe health problems. Try starting your day well by adding a piece of fruit to your breakfast. By having another two portions of vegetables with lunch and two more with dinner, you can easily manage to eat your five portions. According to the NHS, an adult portion of fruit or vegetable is 80g.
4. Limit saturated fat. Reducing the amount of saturated foods in your nutrition can help keep cholesterol levels in check. Saturated fats are found in pastries, oils, cakes, butter, pies and cheese. You can do a few things to reduce saturated fat from your diet, such as checking foods' labels when you shop, measuring the amount of oil you use with a teaspoon, or using an oil spray. You can also cut the visible fat and take the skin off the meat and poultry before cooking it. Besides, you can opt for leaner cuts of meats lower in fat, such as turkey breast and reduced-fat mince.
5.Start to cook. Most people think that eating healthy means eating bland food, which is entirely wrong. Start to follow some inspiring healthy food accounts such as fitgreenmind, feelgoodfoodie and fitmencook to get meals ideas. Remember, the best way to control what you eat is to cook it yourself. Besides, it will also help you to save some money.
Various healthy herbs and spices such as Ginger and Turmeric have powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, leading to various health benefits. Besides, spices and herbs are a great way to change the taste of your recipes and never get bored.
7. Try health shots. Our natural shots are a great complement to a healthy diet. Our main ingredient is Ginger, which benefits your body in so many ways. Ginger is a plant native from Asia, which has been used for more than 4,000 years for cooking and medicinal purposes. The root is famous because it increases energy, strengthens the immune system, relieves nausea, improves circulation.
8. Drink plenty of water. Your body contains between 55 to 75% of water. Drinking water is essential in the matters of your health, fitness and physique goals. The amount of water required each day varies according to your age, activity level, sex and climate. In the UK, the NHS (National Health Service) recommends drinking 6 to 8 glasses a day or 1.9 litres, including water in your food.
9. Stay active. A healthy diet combined with more activity goes a long way to improve your overall health. Being active doesn't necessarily mean that you have to exercise at the gym. There are many ways to stay active, such as decorating your room, tying the garden, or walking. The NHS recommends doing at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity a week or 75 minutes of high-intensity activity.
10. Make your sleep a top priority. When you are asleep, your body can repair itself. Besides, sleep is when your brain can organise the information from the day and store away memories. Thus, sleep is vital for having excellent mental and physical health. For good sleep, avoid the screen at least one hour before going to bed. Besides, try to sleep and wake up consistently at the same time; it will aid your long-term sleep quality. Meditation can also help you to fall asleep faster; my favourite meditation is "Let Go of The Day" by depression to expression.
11. Stay indulgent with yourself. Don't beat yourself up if you had too much junk food or didn't exercise. It's ok if you don't feel 100% every day. Do your best and be proud of yourself. Your mental health has a significant impact on your overall well-being.
12. Practice Self-Care: Take time to do something that you love. It can be watching your favourite TV show, having a bath with relaxing oils or spending time with your pet. The importance is that you take care of yourself for yourself. Practising self-care helps reduce stress, improve self-image and relationships with others.
13. Enjoy spending time outside. Nature is a magical thing; breathing the fresh air, taking the sun, observing trees and flowers can be a powerful remedy to improve your physical and mental health. Whenever you feel low, try to have a 20 minutes walk outside; you will get straight away better.
No more excuses. It's time to be the best and healthiest version of you; we gave you all our tips! Don't forget you are strong, beautiful and can do anything! The Fighter Shots team believes in you!

Walking has become more popular during lockdown in the UK. It has become a popular past time for many wanting to socialise in a socially distanced way. Just remember to take your rubbish home with you or dispose of it in a bin nearby!
You don’t need a big outdoor space to start gardening or caring for plants. In fact, all you need is a windowsill in a well-lit area of your home. Some of the easiest plants to care for at home include Pothos plant, Aglaonema, and the Chinese Money plant.
While treating yourself is a great mood-booster, it is not always easy to find ethical and sustainable sources for this. Download Good on You from the App store to check if your favourite brands are sustainable and pay their workers fair wages. Online secondhand shops such as Depop and Vinted are great ways to get your hands on pre-loved bargains this weekend!
Saving energy is not just important for the environment, but also for bills! Candles are a great way to create a relaxing ambience at home. Why not try making your own from our last blog post? Remember you can use fragrances from the old roses you were thinking of throwing out, or even your orange peel from your lunch.
Maybe you have an empty bottle in your home that would make a pretty vase, some flowers that could be pressed or dried, or maybe even some mason jars that could be turned into candle holders. Upcycling items in your home is a great way to save money and help the environment. It’s also a creative way to spend a weekend unwinding. Maybe you could even try creating a piece of art in your home from things you find around the house.
It’s no secret that physical health is one of the most important parts of self-care. It can majorly boost mental wellbeing as well as decrease fatigue and improve the immune system as well as internal organ health. We suggest you try some of our ginger shots! Meditation is a practice that is used all over the world to encourage focus, mindfulness, and relaxation. It’s a great practice for anyone who feels overwhelmed and finds it hard to ‘switch off’. The best thing about meditation is how accessible it is. All you need is quiet room and surroundings and meditational music. There are many ways to practice meditation, and there are some great books out there to help. We would suggest reading ‘The Art of Living (as taught by S N Goenka)’ by William Hart, or ‘The Miracle of Mindfulness’ by Thich Nhat Hanh.
Feeling inspired? We are too! We hope these tips help you to enjoy an environmentally friendly weekend of self-care and rest. Remember to prioritise your wellbeing and take this time to be mindful of your health.
]]>Thirty years ago, my grandmother had a large school in Tehran where she taught candle making, flower making and tailoring. Her great interest in these arts encouraged me to explore and learn from her.
Personally, making candles is therapeutic, fun and rewarding and it helps me wash away any stress. Playing around with textures and colours, wax and perfumes or essential oils all while creating something you love and enjoy is stress- relieving and helps calm my mind.
While I am making candles, my whole focus becomes the candle and I barely think about other stuff like business, deadlines, emails and other tensions. Also, once you light your candles up, especially the aromatherapy candles, it can help calm your mind and body. I tend to light up my candles in the evening, to help me unwind and aid my meditation. Soothing fragrances like rosemary, cinnamon and vanilla can instantly shift my mood and productivity.
Candles are the perfect present. They are versatile and have an array of scents. Handmade ones especially add that perfect personal touch!
You can also consider this as a home-based candle business!
Candles are something you needed throughout the year and people love to gift them on different occasions like a Valentines, Mother’s Day, Birthdays and Christmas. If you are a creative crafter, you can easily turn this hobby into a part-time business! This thriving and high demand market will allow you to be your own boss and build something you own and love while you are spending more time with your family. Small businesses are easy to start and allows you to have your own schedule and day to day activities.
You may wonder which types of candles are my favourite ones?
I love making 100g soy wax candles with rosemary and cinnamon scents. I enjoy playing with colours but so far, cream and grey candles are my favourite as I can easily match them with my room decoration. I use frosted glass sprays to create semi-transparent frosted glass. I typically use frost glass, as it’s difficult to prevent air bubbles and wet spots as the wax cools inside the jar or glass! So as a tip, I would suggest using frosted glasses or coloured glasses for your candles!
How to make your own scented candles?
First of all, you need the following ingredients:
Follow these simple steps to create your very own candles:
